The Don’t Look Up star has donated $10 million to Ukraine, in a bid to help the country push back against Russian advances. The actor’s maternal grandmother is of Ukrainian descent, so he has a very personal connection to the war.

DiCaprio’s grandmother is originally from Odesa, Ukraine, and migrated in 1917, heading toward Germany. The International Visegrad Fund will be handling his donation.

He isn’t the only star to step up for the country. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have also pledged matching $1 million donations to the UNHCR, with a focus on refugees.

The Harry Potter author has pledged to match donations up to £1 million for charity Lumos’ emergency appeal.

“I will personally match donations to this appeal, up to £1m. Thank you so, so much to all who’ve already donated, you‘re enabling @lumos to do crucial work for some of the most vulnerable children in Ukraine,” Rowling tweeted.

Game of Thrones heartthrob Kit Harrington has joined a slew of other actors, including Hugh Bonneville, David Tennant, Simon Pegg, and more in a collation of 15 different NGOs from the UK who are focusing on relief efforts.

Mila Kunis has also stepped up and raised over $18 million. The money is meant to help refugees fleeing the country. She began the effort with the help of her husband, Ashton Kutcher; the couple has a GoFundMe page that is directly working with local charities. Their goal is to raise over $30 million dollars, and in just a few days, they’re almost halfway there.

In a video message, Kutcher said: “And while we witness the bravery of the people of the country that she was born in, we’re also witness to the needs of those who have chosen safety.”

“We’re raising funds to support a relief effort that will have immediate impact and supply much needed refugee and humanitarian aid to the area,” he added.

Gigi Hadid has also announced that all her earnings from the Fall 2022 Fashion Week shows will be routed toward relief and humanitarian efforts for the people who have been displaced by the conflict.

More than 2 million refugees have escaped the conflict and are now in need of basic necessities. Russian aggression hasn’t been going the way Putin thought it would, with Ukrainian forces putting up one of the most iconic fights the world has ever seen.

There are several other A-list actors and prominent entertainers who are speaking out in support of the country. Angelina Jolie, Camila Cabello, and Jared Leto are only some of the names of people who have vocally denounced the conflict and touched on their support for Ukraine.
