Russia is continuing its onslaught against Ukraine.

Meanwhile, soldiers fighting for Ukraine are continuing to push back as much as they can. In a now infamous, yet short battle, all the border guards securing Snake Island for Ukraine have been killed during sea bombardment.

An online audio clip, which has now gone viral, tells the tale of the brief but harrowing exchange between Russian and Ukrainian soldiers.

Ukrainian troops can be heard being told to surrender and give up their posts by an officer from the Russian Navy.

“This is a military warship. This is a Russian military warship. I suggest you lay down your weapons and surrender to avoid bloodshed and needless casualties. Otherwise, you will be bombed,” the Russian officer warns in the recorded clip.

The Ukrainian soldiers take a few seconds to weigh their options before one of the officers responds: “Russian warship, go fuck yourself.”

Here’s the clip:

Snake Island had 13 border guards guarding a small 16-hectare patch. All 13 are now dead.

Their bravery has not gone unnoticed. In his address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced that the soldiers would be given Ukraine’s highest military honour, i.e., the Hero of Ukraine award.

“All border guards died heroically but did not give up,” Zelenskiy said.

The audio has fast become the war cry for many Ukrainians, at home and abroad. Long after the war is over, people will most likely remember these words.

Russian aggression is far from over, but many tales of bravery are coming out of Ukraine with each passing moment.

There are several sanctions being put into place against the former USSR, but it so far does not seem as though they will be effective deterrents against Putin’s ambitions. According to some estimates, more than 137 Ukrainians have lost their lives in the fighting. British forces are ready to support Ukrainian soldiers too, they’re monitoring to see if the situation spills into Europe.
