A soldier who attended a fundraising event for Help for Heroes was given a hero's reception by locals in Nailsea.

Fusilier Sean Wiseman from 2 Scots light infantry battalion has previously served in Afghanistan, during which time he lost one of his legs, reports the Weston and Somerset Mercury.

His aunt Andrea Dickson and her partner Frank Baillie put together a special reunion at local pub the Queen's Head, while in their roles as landlords they organised a raft of activities to keep people entertained and raise money for the charity.

These included a barbecue, a waxing race, pool competitions, darts matches, a leg of ale contest and live music.

In total, £1,000 was raised for Help for Heroes over the course of the weekend by Ms Dickson and Mr Baillie.

Commenting on the work of Help for Heroes, Mr Baillie said: "The rehabilitation centres for injured soldiers are absolutely fantastic. It makes a great difference and these boys deserve it."ADNFCR-2867-ID-801643674-ADNFCR
