Grumpy Cat secures Hollywood movie deal

A cat that became an internet hit after revealing its famously grumpy side will soon be a star of the big screen, after it was signed up on a Hollywood movie contract.

Grumpy Cat was captured in a photograph in 2012 that showed her looking extremely glum and it later went viral after being posted on Reddit.

Now, the feline looks on the verge of a film career in Hollywood after production company Broken Road announced it has confirmed a project featuring the animal will take place.

Todd Garner, producer at the firm, said: "This started off as a picture of a cat, but rare is an image that evokes that much comedy."

Mr Garner has previously been behind movies including Zookeeper and Jack and Jill, starring Adam Sandler, so Grumpy Cat could be set for something special.

Since rising to fame, the cat has been the subject of numerous online schemes, including the creation of its own Facebook account.
