A former British soldier who had joined the fighting on behalf of Ukraine has been killed in the conflict. News of Jordan Gatley’s death was released by his family. Jordan Gatley quit the British armed forces in March this year so that he could help the people of Ukraine.

He was a part of the conflict in Severodonetsk, where, according to his family, he was helping train Ukrainian forces. At the time of his death, he was on the front lines. When it comes to eastern Ukraine, both Severodonetsk and Lysychansk are the only places that have yet to fall to Russian advances. They have experienced unprecedented attacks in the last few days.

The Foreign Office has confirmed that it is “supporting the family of British man who has died in Ukraine.” Although Jordan Gatley’s name has been used specifically, we can only understand this to mean him.

According to a Facebook post put up by Jordan Gatley’s father, his family “had several messages from his team out there telling us of his wealth of knowledge, his skills as a soldier, and his love of his job”.

“Yesterday [10/06/22] we received the devastating news that our son, Jordan, has been shot and killed in the city of Severodonetsk, Ukraine … He loved his job and we are so proud of him. He truly was a hero and will forever be in our hearts.the statement said.

The men who fought with him will not forget him either. The statement went on to note that they “all loved him, as did we, and he made a massive difference to many people’s lives, not only by soldiering, but also by training the Ukrainian forces.”

Jordan’s father says that he is a true hero and will forever remain in their hearts. We’re here to tell him that the same is true for us.

Jordan Gatley gave up on his career in the British armed forces for the greater good. Not many of us can imagine putting our lives on hold the way members of our military continue to do, day in and day out.

Just a few days ago, we also reported on a British soldier and another national who are currently being held by Russian forces, and has been sentenced to death. This war is getting uglier day by day.
