Yeovil charity night raises £2.5k for H4H

A charity event in Yeovil has raised £2,500 for a military charity.

The black tie dinner was held at RNAS Yeovilton to mark the 90th anniversary of the town's rotary club and all of the proceeds went to Help for Heroes (H4H), the Western Gazette reports.

Colonel Mark Cook, a soldier with the Gurkhas for over 30 years, was the guest speaker at the evening and he talked about some of the experiences he had on the front line.

These included being part of the Balkans War – where he was commander of the British UN contingent – and he set up his own charity to help children as a direct result of his first-hand experiences.

Richard Lupton, H4H regional co-ordinator, has been presented with a cheque for £2,500 and the money will go towards helping servicemen and women who have been injured while serving their country.
