People who catch the Tube or other forms of public transport each day will be only too aware of the problems caused by overcrowding.
Fighting for a little bit of space with dozens of other commuters is very much the norm across London and in other major cities in the UK.
That is why designer Siew Ming Cheng has decided to create a brand new spiked waistcoat that helps people to create a bit of personal space.
By threatening those around them with a sharp prod in the body, the suit will allow commuters to travel in comfort and with ample room.
On her Behance profile, she explained trains are often crowded during peak hours, before asking: "How can I protect my personal space? The idea was then conceived. 'What if I wear a vest that is full of spikes?'"
It remains to be seen whether the waistcoat will catch on, but it would sure make for some strange looks if it does.
