A Sheffield woman has surpassed the £3,000 she aimed to raise for Help for Heroes (H4H) after spending the past three years bringing in funds for the charity.
Lorraine Kirkham initially planned to raise the money by selling wristbands, but three years down the line her fundraising efforts have seen her bring in £50,000, ITV reports.
The cash will go towards helping British soldiers who have been wounded in conflicts around the word and Ms Kirkham said seeing so many troops coming back injured from Afghanistan gave her all the motivation she needed.
She explained seeing "rows and rows" of soldiers in Birmingham's Selly Oak Hospital prompted her to help generate funding for Headley Court, a rehabilitation unit for service personnel in Surrey.
"I'd heard about Headley Court which Help for Heroes was trying to fund and build and that's what I wanted to do," Ms Kirkham was quoted as saying.
