In newly released videos, Boris Johnson can be seen walking leisurely through the streets of Kyiv. The visit is a strong message to Russia and reaffirms the UK’s stance on the recent conflict.

According to media reports, Johnson has been pushing for a visit for weeks, but he was only able to travel on March 15, when his security detail allowed it. The trip, which is no longer a secret, took place by train.

Prime Ministers from the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Poland also joined him.Johnson’s visit is not without merit. It isn’t just a statement for Putin, it’s also one that will show the world where the country sways when it comes to this war.

Videos of him depict his walk around the capital. In his video address, Zelensky praised Johnson, saying that “It was a great honour for me to welcome in our capital a sincere friend of Ukraine, Boris Johnson. His visit to our country demonstrates as clearly as possible there are no obstacles to freedom and to leadership.”

He told the Ukrainians: “Boris was among those who did not hesitate for a moment whether to help Ukraine.”

He praised UK’s aid when it comes to not just the weapons that have been handed over to Ukraine but also the sanctions that have been placed on Moscow.

Johnson started his journey from Poland, which is extremely close to the conflict both physically and otherwise.

In the clip shared by Ukrainian Railways online, the prime minister said: “I am travelling on a fantastic train through to Kyiv from Poland – I just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff of Ukrainian Railways for what you’re doing.”

Johnson added: “I gathered you’re called the iron people… I think it also reflects the spirit you’re showing and the spirit of Ukraine in standing up to the appalling aggression we’re seeing. We in the UK stand in sympathy and solidarity with you.”

The UK government has been extending help in several ways, and people have been flocking from the country to help Ukrainians. Earlier, Forces Penpals CEO Bruno Mustone also donated oxygen masks donated oxygen masks to help civilians.

Meanwhile, anti-missile systems donated by the UK have also been making a marked difference in the war.

The visit may just be a symbolic gesture, but it has helped the Ukrainians, Putin, and the world, see that Zelenskiy and his people are not alone.
