Watch out for fake photos and incomplete profiles, online daters warned

People who are taking the modern step of looking for love on the internet have been warned of one or two things they should look out for.

Cara Mason, writing for Female First, has named fake photographs, incomplete profiles and 'too good to be true' descriptions as items that should sound alarm bells.

She noted that model shots or suggestive images are certainly a worry, as most genuine people will instead opt for photographs taken in normal surroundings.

Prospective dates who add very little information to their profiles should also be treated with suspicion, as this is a "warning sign that something is not right".

It is also worth considering the spelling found within a profile, as foreign scammers are likely to have used a poor translation tool.

Ms Mason went on to conclude that as with most things in life, if somebody looks or sounds too good to be true, they most probably are.
