Most students worry about a lack of money, and thinking of a novel way to raise some funds can make the difference between living on the bread line and not.
But one academic in the US might have taken things a bit too far, by deciding to auction her virginity in the hope of raising $400,000 (£242,000), reports Metro.
Elizabeth Raine – which is the alias of the student in question – has invited bids on the unusual lot and promised to go through with it no matter who the winner is.
"The concept does not offend me, it is a unique opportunity for excitement and growth, and I need not mention the nice financial bonus," she stated.
The highest bidder will enjoy a 12-hour date with the student, during which time the 27-year-old will offer to lose her virginity.
She has also revealed that 35 per cent of the money she receives from the auction will be handed to charity.
