Two women will trek 26 miles across Hadrian's Wall to raise money for an armed forces charity.

Joanne White – whose father was a Grenadier Guard – has chosen to donate all of the money from the event to Help for Heroes (H4H).

She told the Lancashire Evening Post that she is "always up" for a challenge and so is looking forward to taking on the daunting task.

Ms White is hoping to get a four-figure sum from her endeavour after the initial reaction to the trek proved to be very positive.

The woman will be accompanied on the trip by her friend Kelly Dixon and it is expected to take the pair between eight and ten hours to complete the distance.

Speaking about H4H, the mother of one stated it is "a very special cause close to my heart" as she has a lot of friends who are currently serving abroad.
