Theatre goers in Yorkshire have spent the year collecting money for Help for Heroes, with one famous venue opting to add to the fund with its own money.
BrassNeck Theatre and its audiences have raised about £700 for the charity and bosses have now chosen to increase that to £1,500, reports the Wharfedale Observer.
Kevin Mitchell, a former soldier who was injured during a spell in Northern Ireland, was on hand to be presented with the money, which will be used by Help for Heroes to support those who have been injured or wounded in combat.
"We really appreciate the generosity of our members and audiences," said Richard Lloyd, chairman of the theatre.
Venues such as theatres could be in a strong position to collect money for charities such as Help for Heroes, bearing in mind the considerable number of people that come through the doors each night and week.
