Two teenage friends are going to cycle 1,000 miles in order to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Both Daniel Davis and Joshua Foley have family in the armed forces and so they want to do their bit to collect cash for such a worthy cause, the Northants Evening Telegraph reports.

They have set an initial fundraising target of £1,000, but may well end up getting more than this depending on the generosity of local residents.

Mr Davis observed: "All our family and friends think what we are doing is fantastic and they are behind us 100 per cent."

He added the charity is important because it helps "so many people" and they see the initiative as an opportunity to "give something back".

The two boys have already collected £800 and are therefore well on-course to smash their target, as they still have over 800 miles left to cycle.
