Study: Women like men with a good sense of humour

Women look for a good sense of humour when picking out a partner.

This is according to research at Penn State – published in the American Journal of Play – as they found it rated second in a list of 16 character traits that females want to see in males.

The ladies in question were between 18 and 26 and being fun loving and playful came in third and fourth respectively in their rundown of desirable qualities.

Garry Chick, professor and head of the department of recreation, park and tourism management, stated: "Our results suggest that adult playfulness may result from sexual selection and signal positive qualities to potential long-term mates."

He added it may be possible for men to showcase their suitability to women by acting on their playfulness.

In terms of what males like to see in females, being physically attractive, healthy and having good heredity all scored highly.
