Saint Mary's Church in Beverley, East Yorkshire, is hosting a Christmas concert to raise money for Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help.

Music will be supplied by a number of local choirs and East Riding SSAFA Forces Help and Longcroft School are collaborating to organise the event, About My Area reports.

All of the money raised at the gig – which takes place on December 10th – will go to helping armed forces members in the region.

David Elvidge, chairman of SSAFA East Yorkshire, stated: "This concert is not just a time for people to gather and celebrate the season, but also to spare a thought for our troops and pray for their safe return."

Longcroft School's deputy curriculum leader of performing arts Julie Harris stated the learning centre has taught a number of people who went on to serve in the military and therefore it is "natural" to help out.

It comes after a similar evening was held at Morpeth Town Hall.
