A soldier from Sunderland is going to take part in a gruelling road trip around Europe to collect money for military charities Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion.
Corporal Mick Clark has signed up for the Rally for Heroes, which will see him make his way through England, France, Germany, Austria, Italy and Monaco over the course of seven days.
Speaking to the Sunderland Echo, Corporal Clark observed the challenge will get underway from BBC's Top Gear track in Surrey on Saturday (August 18th) and former F1 commentator Murray Walker will be on hand to help announce the start.
It is hoped £100,000 can be raised for the good causes by completing the route, which will be around 2,500 miles.
"We are travelling a minimum of five miles for each service person that has given the ultimate sacrifice while on tour in Afghanistan since 2001," the 35-year-old said.
