A group of rowers have come through a huge challenge in order to raise more than £12,000 for Help for Heroes.

The team completed a 123-mile journey down the River Thames in canoes, having set out from Lechlade on May 13th and arrived at their destination in London six days later, reports the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard.

Barchester Healthcare put the team together to take on the route and the organisation, which runs Hunter's Care Centre in Cirencester, was proud of the participants.

Leader and Badgeworth Court maintenance manager Malcolm McDonald said: "It hasn't all been plain sailing but we've enjoyed messing about on the river and growing the total that will go towards two brilliant charities."

The money will be shared by Help for Heroes and Barchester's own charitable foundation.

Mr McDonald added that the Help for Heroes rowers had been "cracking" and provided a wonderful team spirit throughout the event.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801595033-ADNFCR
