A number of local ladies from Stoke have shed their clothes in an effort to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The 65 women were recruited by organiser Julie Hancock through Facebook and have posed with little more than skimpy military attire for a calendar named Real Stoke Girls, the BBC reports.

All of the proceeds from the shoot will go to the charity – which helps support wounded troops – and the product has already raised around £3,000.

The women involved are of all shapes and sizes and are aged between 16 and 80.

Ms Hancock said the feeling of general inclusion gave the girls the confidence to pose without their clothes.

"For the most part, these individually shy women supported each other in doing what they never thought they could do," she explained.

Barry and District News recently revealed Barry's Calendar Girls – another group who are creating such a product – are attending a retro dance in aid of the Help for Heroes cause.
