Troops returning from Afghanistan could be greeted by a rapturous reception this weekend.
Cheshire East leaders have urged local residents to come out in their droves to welcome back 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Cheshire) after a six-month stint overseas, the Crewe Chronicle reports.
A parade will be taking place on Saturday June 26th – which is also Armed Forces Day – to mark the occasion.
Gordon Baxendale, mayor for the region, rallied: "Your support for the armed forces provides a much valued morale boost for the troops and their families."
A commemorative ceremony will be held on the day at 11:00 BST at Crewe Municipal Square, when Mr Baxendale will hoist a flag with members of the Royal British Region.
It was recently revealed the Wales Millennium Centre has joined the Tickets for Troops scheme, which will offer members of the armed services and injured veterans free access to a range of sporting and musical events.
