People in the south Wales city of Newport were left stunned when they discovered cannabis had been growing in floral displays owned by their local council.
The drug was spotted in six plant pots set out in the city, with some even located close to the police station.
Shop owners Dean Beddis and Steve Reynolds first came across the suspicious crop during a walk home from the pub one evening.
"I had never seen cannabis growing in the wild before so it was crazy to see it. We thought Newport was trying to be a new Amsterdam and doing its best to win City in Bloom," Mr Beddis told WalesOnline.
A spokesman for Gwent police said no action can now be taken as the plants have disappeared.
Rhys Hutchings, a Newport councillor, suggested that teenagers were probably responsible for the case, as he is "pretty sure it's not Alan Titchmarsh".
