Members of the public are encouraged to support soldiers taking part in the upcoming Britcar 24-hour race at Silverstone.

Mazda are supporting the Forces team, which is just one of the groups joining the contest – spanning a 3.195-mile track – between September 29th and October 2nd, About My Area reports.

The Forces line-up will see soldiers take to the pit garage to assist the drivers of the MX-5 motor, with some of the troops having sustained injuries during recent tours to Afghanistan.

A range of army-related charities are being supported by the team, including Help for Heroes, the Soldiers Charity, Forces Children's Trust and The Not Forgotten Association.

Major Jim Cameron – who has a passion for motorsports – is leading the charity team and says: "The drivers and regiment are excited to be undertaking this task and welcome all support from the public."

James Tucker from Britcar names this a "worthy cause" and states he is excited about the event.
