A preacher will skydive from 5,000 ft in order to raise money for Help for Heroes (H4H).

Vanessa Johnson is taking on the leap of faith in an effort to collect £1,000 for the good cause, the Goole Courier reports.

The Selby-based woman was dared to take on the challenge by her husband Robert, who is also a preacher, as it has been a lifelong ambition of hers.

Of his wife, he remarked: "She didn't take it up at first, but she eventually said she would do it if I organised it. She is very excited."

Brigg Airfield near Hibaldstow in Lincolnshire is set to be the site of the jump and it will take place on August 22nd, which is also the anniversary of when the couple met.

Mr Johnson observed this means the two of them can "make a day of it" after she has finished her piece of thrill-seeking.
