Online daters ‘should not feel rejected’

Single soldiers who use online dating sites may not get an immediate response from somebody they have contacted.

But that does not mean they should feel disheartened by the whole process, explains Peter Spalton, founder of thedatingdoctor.co.uk.

He says: "It is about having a bit of fun. Don't feel rejected because you send an email and someone doesn't respond, that's the way it is."

Limiting the amount of time spent on such platforms is a good idea, as this will ensure people do not get too caught up in the process.

Mr Spalton suggests it might be wise to set a limit and decide to try online dating for a certain number of months to see whether it is suitable.

People may well be hoping they find a long-lasting relationship this way, as Drew Lubega, editor of AskMen UK, recently suggested men place a great deal of value on meaningful partnerships.
