The most popular time to hear from someone after a date is 11:48 BST on a Monday.

This is according to the LoveGeist Report 2011-2012, which found Saturday evening is the most common period to meet for the first time and 1.52 days is the average time people who got on well will wait before resuming contact.

As well as this, 31 per cent of males will try two-to-three times to arrange another rendezvous with someon they like, compared to 28 per cent of single ladies.

Only two per cent of over 2,000 people surveyed said they would meet up with someone after initial contact was made using a social media site such as Facebook or Twitter.

And 53 per cent of people said their favourite way to follow-up after a successful encounter is through text message.

Hot soldiers looking for love may like to take the findings into consideration if they are considering giving online dating a go.
