Members of the 73 Engineer Regiment (Volunteers) are going to cycle 6,000 km in order to raise money for an armed forces charity.

The distance – which is reflective of the gap between their Nottingham base and Camp Bastion in Afghanistan – is to be covered at six locations in Nottingham, Derby and Sheffield, the Chesterfield Post reports.

All of the money collected from the stunt will go to ABF – The Soldiers' Charity.

Tomorrow (March 3rd), the participants will be on their cycling machines at Chesterfield Tesco Superstore, which is beside the B2net Stadium – home of Chesterfield FC – ahead of the team's game against Tranmere Rovers.

To show support for the group, the club will be performing bucket collections throughout the day in an effort to raise as much money as possible.

It is hoped this initiative will boost the overall total raised by the military personnel.
