Men using online dating to find love spend 65 per cent more time looking at photos than their female counterparts.
This is according to research carried out by AnswerLab, which also discovered ladies put 50 per cent more effort into reading profiles.
Portable eye tracking technology was used to capture what parts of a dating website both sexes looked at.
Singletons trying to find that special someone may want to consider this information whenever they go to create their profile page.
Kate Prengaman, writing for Discovery News, stated: "Combining the angle of the gaze and the distance between the eyes and the screen leads to accurate tracking of the eye's movements."
It comes after a study carried out by Harry Reis – professor of psychology at the University of Rochester – and four others found online dating to be the second most popular way for people to meet up in the US.
