Five men from Mansfield have made a huge difference to one charity after walking from Newcastle to their home town.
Geoff Hall, Jamie Bowler, Liam Ansty, Rene Close and Stuart Wardman are due to hand over around £6,000 to the charity as a result of their efforts, reports the Mansfield Chad.
They covered around 150 miles after starting off at Newcastle United's St James's Park and heading through the towns of Darlington, Thirsk, York and Doncaster on their way home.
Mr Hall explained the hardest part of the journey had been between Thirsk and York, as they had to take a detour to avoid the heavy rain and danger on the A19.
"There were also a few sore knees and blisters, but we were all pretty determined to make it and helped each other through," he added.
When they arrived back in Mansfield, they were given a "fantastic" reception from more than 200 people who had gathered to greet them.
