A store manager from York is going to complete the Trans Pennine Challenge for Help for Heroes (H4H).
Colin Powell is currently in training for the event, which will take place on June 22nd and 23rd and sees participants cover 100 km as they make their way from Manchester to Sheffield.
The 30-year-old is planning to walk and jog the distance and any sponsorship money he receives will go to the military charity.
Speaking to the York Press, Mr Powell stated he is hoping to complete the challenge in around 20 hours, even though he does not consider himself to be particularly fit.
"I play football and do a bit of swimming but I wouldn't say I'm an athlete, no. I've never done anything like this before," he added.
So far, Mr Powell has collected nearly £500 and is looking to break the £1,000 barrier by the time he completes the challenge.
