A man from Lutterworth is preparing to take part in the Leicester Marathon as she seeks to raise money for Help for Heroes (H4H).
James Orton is hoping to collect £1,000 for the military charity by covering the 26.2 mile distance in October, the Harborough Mail reports.
The 23-year-old said he chose to run for H4H because of all of the good work it does in terms of helping out armed forces members.
Mr Orton said the training has been very difficult, as he started from scratch in terms of his fitness levels.
However, after completing a 20-mile run last Friday (September 7th), he is confident he will be able to complete the distance.
Indeed, Mr Orton already has his sights set on the next challenge – swimming the English Channel.
He hopes to get a friend to take on the swim with him, as he admitted he would not be able to do it on his own.
