Help for Heroes (H4H) has been given a new boost after it was revealed a group of students from Loughborough University have raised £600 towards its cause.

The Loughborough Echo has told how the academics launched a collection around the campus and sought donations from local businesses in order to achieve the sum.

Local solider Jack Davies was on hand recently to accept the donation, which will be sued to help injured servicemen, on behalf of H4H.

Mr Davies, 22, suffered spinal injuries and had to have his left leg amputated after being involved in an explosion while serving with the Coldstream Guards in Afghanistan.

He was injured in October 2009 in the attack that also killed his comrade Lance Corp James Hill.

The special presentation from the Loughborough students to the former military man took place at Paintball SAS 22 in Markfield and will allow the charity to continue its good work.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801536953-ADNFCR
