The chance to meet soldiers who have fought in Afghanistan and Iraq is a real source of inspiration, says Chelsea skipper and England captain John Terry.
Speaking to the Sun, the footballer revealed he would not have the courage to fight on the front line.
He said he is proud of the work carried out by the armed forces and expressed his support for a campaign from the England Footballers Foundation, which launched in 2007 and recently announced it will carry out fundraising activities for Help for Heroes.
"Meeting these guys is a genuine incentive for us when we pull on the jersey … it's moving stuff," he stated.
The star has visited a number of injured soldiers, including corporal Simon Brown, of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, who told Terry about his experience in Iraq when he was shot in the face.
"They don't want you feeling sorry for them," the footballer said, adding many soldiers deal with their experiences by joking about them.
