Keen online daters will be well aware of the many advantages of using the internet to find love, with thousands of couples meeting and getting to know each other thanks to the platform each year.
Writer Dorothy Cummings McLean has been speaking to the Scottish Daily Record about her experiences of finding her husband Mark via the web.
They tied the knot four years ago, after Mrs McLean began looking for love after getting divorced at the age of 27.
She described online dating as "a great way to meet people" – and it is not hard to see why, with thousands of users all over the country already signed up to sites.
Mrs McLean did sound a word of warning for online daters though, reminding them that people will only put up their very best photographs on their profile, so this must be taken into consideration when working out how suitable a match is.
