If soldiers cannot be bothered to head out on a date after a tiring day at work then meeting potential partners on social networking sites could prove to be the best course of action.
"Dating online is an interesting way to socialise without bothering about what to wear or where to take your date," states the Hindustan Times.
As the relationship develops, the publication advises that the first face-to-face meeting should take place in a public location. Then if the date turns out to be a disaster, at least a swift exit can be made.
Similarly, it is suggested that soldiers should only swap mobile phone numbers with potential love interests so if it doesn’t work out, they won’t be bombarded with calls to their land lines.
But the rules of conventional relationships still apply in the online dating world. Jeffrey Hall, lead researcher of a study on internet dating that was recently published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, recommended that internet partnerships are unlikely to be any different to those formed through friends, school or work.
