A good relationship match is not just a person you get along well with on a date, but someone who has the potential to be with you for the long term.
When you are on a date with someone, naturally, most of us will be looking for that special someone.
Unfortunately, many of us discover too late that the person we were previously enamoured with is not right for us after all.
But what if it was possible to know whether the person we are dating was a keeper or a loser from the get go?
Well, actually it is possible, if you know what signs to look out for.
Below, we share some of our top tips to help you to figure out just how much of a match you are.
Similar hobbies
If neither of you share the same interests then it is unlikely that you will be able to get along in the long run.
Ideally, your partner should be a person that you are able to participate in mutual hobbies with. This does not mean you have to agree on absolutely everything or do everything together, but it helps if you both share a passion for something. You are also more likely to sustain your relationship for longer if you have a mutual interest keeping you together.
Chemistry
Nothing can quite beat chemistry when it comes to considering a new relationship.
When you both just can't keep your hands off each other, and you feel like you want to be in each other's company all the time, then this is also a very good sign.
However, if you come away feeling indifferent at best, and you have no strong feelings of attraction or chemistry between you, then this should be taken as a potential red flag that may indicate that you may not be destined for a long-term relationship.
Respect
Mutual respect and understanding is a fundamental principle in any relationship. Without that, any union would be destined for almost certain failure.
Do you respect each other's time and opinion? Do you respect each other as people? These are essential questions you need to ask yourself before deciding that someone is 'the one'.
Confidence
Do you feel like you can be yourself and act natural around this other person? If you feel that the only way they will like you or want to be with you is if you 'put on an act' around them, then you should probably start looking elsewhere.
Trust
Another important thing to consider when it comes to dating is trust. If you feel that you just cannot trust this person or vice-versa, then it is unlikely to lead to a very fulfilling relationship.
You should also be wary of anybody who comes across as too possessive or clingy, as these are signs that the other person may have issues with trust.
Integrity
Does this person keep to their word? If they say they are going to do something, or meet you at a certain time, how well do they fulfil that commitment?
How honest are they in their dealings with others? All of these considerations will give you a clue as to how much integrity they have as a person.
