The House of Lords is dumping £100,000 worth of taxpayers' money into funding new toilets.
They will be used by peers and VIP guests and are being refurbished because they are currently in an "unacceptable condition for the high profile area they are in".
Contractors are currently being sought to carry out the job – although it might be a step too far for the DIY weekend warriors among us.
As the Palace of Westminster is a Grade I listed building the re-fit needs to comply with English Heritage requirements, which will include replacing historic oak panelling, new decorations and sanitary equipment.
Matthew Sinclair, from the Taxpayers' Alliance, said that the cost involved was "eye-watering" and this money could be used by a family to build their own home.
It has not been confirmed whether the House of Lords toilets will need sordid graffiti clearing from the doors, or whether the re-fit will include an attendant selling deodorant and aftershave.
