Wounded soldiers are set to benefit from a £1 million donation by Help for Heroes to St Dunstan’s, a charity that provides lifelong support to blind service and ex-service personnel.

The cash injection is aimed at helping the organisation extend its new rehabilitation and training centre in Llandudno and came following a campaign to raise £4 million for the construction of the St Dunstan’s extension.

Former soldiers who have served in the Armed Forces and lost their sight due to war, age, accident or illness will benefit from the new facility, which aims to provide world class rehabilitation and training.

Welcoming the donation, chief executive Robert Leader said: “Thanks to the generosity of Help for Heroes and their supporters we are able to move forward with the construction of the extension.

He went on to state that the high dependency nursing facilities to be added to the faculty are vital in ensuring more service and ex-service personnel are helped.
