Former soldier completes 8,000-mile trek

A former military man has finally completed an 8,000-mile trek taking in Britain's coastline in aid of Help for Heroes.

Christian Nock, 39, from Blackpool walked the coastline over a period of 19 months, sleeping rough every single night.

He did so in a bid to raise as much money as possible for Help for Heroes, with his efforts paying off to the tune of more than £170,000.

Mr Nock was left homeless after he left the army, so he decided to complete the fundraiser in order to show how ex-soldiers can be left on the streets once they stop serving.

He even met his girlfriend during the trek, after she came out to give him a flask of coffee in the Kent town of Folkestone.

After finishing at South Pier in Blackpool, Mr Nock told the BBC: "To come back to that sort of reception is amazing. It's nice people have appreciated what I have put myself through."
