A former policeman is hoping to raise more than £1,000 for Help for Heroes after confirming he is to complete a 184-mile walk in aid of the charity.
Eric Moore is to walk from London to Cirencester on the Thames Path in a bid to raise as much cash as possible, reports the Gloucestershire Echo.
The Gloucestershire resident has been a supporter of the armed forces for his entire life, setting up the Navy Training Corps in 2009.
He is to this day an officer of TS Raleigh, which is the Fairford unit of the Navy Training Corps, ensuring his involvement continues.
Mr Moore said: "I have been inspired to complete this walk to help support those men and women who have been injured in the service of their country."
The keen walker has been training for the challenge in recent months and admitted one of the benefits is that he has discovered plenty of beautiful countryside he was not previously aware of.
