The expert noted: "First impressions really do count on a first date, so take the time to do a bit of self-preening."
Ms Fox explained she was once pleased to see a man she was meeting for a first date had made an effort, even if this simply involved sporting a clean shirt and good shoes.
It is also important to show decent manners, the reporter observed, adding dating etiquette should also be adhered to – such as offering to buy the drinks.
