Many people may not dream of their wedding day including a visit to McDonald's, but for one happy couple the only place they wanted to be on their big day was underneath the famous golden arches.

Steven and Emily Asher of Bristol chose their local branch of the fast food restaurant as the venue for their reception after tying the knot recently. They paid around £150 for 33 guests to dine on Big Macs and other meals served up by the chain.

The couple were delighted to be able to celebrate at McDonald's, having shared plenty of dates there. Mr Asher and his bride arrived at the restaurant in a stretch limo and soon tucked into a Chicken Legend and a chicken nugget meal respectively.

Speaking afterwards, the groom said: "We were both shaking throughout the ceremony, we were so nervous. But it was a great day and everyone seemed to find our reception at McDonalds really interesting. Everyone enjoyed themselves – everyone loves McDonalds, don't they?"

His new wife added: "It was an amazing day. I did get quite a few people staring at me in McDonald's but I didn't care – it was my big day and I was there to enjoy myself."

Not too many people tend to choose the fast food eatery as the ideal place for their wedding reception, but the decision of Mr and Mrs Asher certainly went down well with staff. They were presented with a bottle of Champagne by the store manager, although they had to wait until they got home to drink it, as McDonald's is not permitted to sell alcohol.

In fact, the happy couple were more than satisfied with the Coca-Cola and strawberry milkshake they enjoyed as their wedding beverages in the restaurant.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801619307-ADNFCR
