Christine and Chris Rae got together for a lunch date after becoming penpals on the internet, the Daily Mail reports.
"I was as nervous as a teenager but I felt like there was such a connection between us," Mrs Rae explained, adding that the date came to an end too soon.
Her grown-up daughters appear to be happy with the whirlwind romance and one of them said Mrs Rae's new partner was "lovely".
People looking to follow in the couple's footsteps should remember to be polite to the individuals who contact them online.
