Construction industry worker to turn rocker for hero troops

A construction industry worker is to try his hand at being a rock star to raise money for brave soldiers injured while serving their country.

Nic Clark, account manager at Wilmott Dixon, will perform in front of thousands of people at an event that aims to showcase the musical talents of those working in the sector, the Surrey Comet reports.

The wannabe-music hero is to play the guitar at the Construction Rocks festival tomorrow (November 4th) with his band the Dixie Rourke and the Tones.

He said: "This will be an exciting chance to be a rock star for a night and will be very different from the day-to-day job of delivery construction projects for BAA."

Mr Clark will also be auctioning off an Eric Clapton-signed Fender Stratocaster guitar to generate more funds for the charity.

And Help for Heroes recently received a donation from Sanctuary Shaftesbury after some of its workers took part in a series of activities, including cake sales, dress-down days and even half-marathons to raise cash for the cause.
