Base jumping is not for the fainthearted, as you need to be cool under pressure in order to pull it off.
However, one man in Russia had an incredibly lucky escape after his parachute failed to open and he was left to plunge 120 ft.
In video footage of the jump, the young male from Konakova looks extremely apprehensive before leaping from a pylon.
And it seems he had every right too, as obviously he wouldn't have even tried if it he knew his parachute was faulty.
While you may think he was certain to die, the powdery snow beneath managed to cushion the fall sufficiently.
He didn't escape unhurt though and suffered a fractured vertebrae, pelvis and legs in the drop.
But I reckon he'll still consider himself to be fortunate, while he should also think about sticking to ground level for a while where he is bound to be safer.
