£50 million raised for Help for Heroes in two years

A staggering £50 million has been raised for the Help for Heroes charity over a two-year period, which has gone towards assisting wounded members of the armed forces in their recovery.

The Sun reports that the kind-hearted donations have helped to change the lives of many injured troops, after thousands of fundraisers up and down the country did their bit for the cause.

Actor Ross Kemp, who is a patron for the charity, says: "Congratulations to everybody for doing their bit. Raising over £50million is an unbelievable thing to do and the public … should be incredibly proud of themselves."

Among the causes that have benefited from the donations is an £8 million swimming pool at gym complex at the forces’ rehabilitation centre based in Headley Court in Surrey, the publication notes.

Army doctors Nick Dennison and Hamish Reid could soon be set to add to this total, as they hope to raise a further £20,000 for the charity by rowing around the entire coastline of the UK.
