Prime minister David Cameron and US president Barack Obama showed how much they support soldiers from both countries during a state visit from the UK's allies this week.

A BBQ was held today (May 25th) at Downing Street for 150 British and American troops and images reveal the two leaders took it upon themselves to serve the food to their guests.

Their wives also joined in with the event and helped to dish out the fare to members of the armed forces.

After the BBQ ended, the prime minister and president attended a press conference to talk about the two countries' special relationship.

It is not the first time this year that important figures have honoured the work of soldiers, as Prince William invited a number of representatives from the military to his wedding in April.

The attendees were among the congregation at Westminster Abbey last month, who witnessed the Duke of Cambridge saying his vows to Kate Middleton.
