An adventurer has completed a 222km jungle marathon in an effort to raise cash for hero soldiers who have been injured while fighting for their country.
Andrew Clarke, from Penarth, successfully completed the trek – which was a self-supported, race through the Amazon in Brazil and was contested in six stages, the Penarth Times reports.
The 35-year-old is second in command of 131 Independent Commando Squadron, Royal Engineers and he attempted the challenge in order to generate funds for the Help for Heroes charity.
He said: "The Jungle Marathon is billed as tougher than the Marathon Des Sables by various ultra-marathon websites, so I thought it would be a good one for me to start."
More than £7,500 has been raised for the charity through Mr Clarke's efforts, the newspaper added.
Eat Out Magazine recently reported restaurant chain The Slug and Lettuce has raised £11,000 for Help for Heroes after its staff took part in a number of fundraising events.
