A charity rock night has been held in an effort to generate cash for brave troops injured while serving their country.

The event was organised by the Southport Original Cruisers bike club and took place on November 20th at The Fox and Goose pub, the Southport Visiter reports.

It raised more than £500 for the Help for Heroes campaign and saw bands playing live music to the audience in a four-hour spectacle, followed by a DJ set.

Charlie Brown, chair of the organisation, said of the groups: "They left the crowd physically drained and it was down to Andy the rock DJ to bring them round."

The group recently stripped for the 2011 edition of The Biker Calendar and are donating £1 from every sale to the National Association for Bikers with a Disability charity.

And Help for Heroes will also benefit from the efforts of Bridget King, who has transformed her property into a festive house for children to enjoy – with money raised from visits going to the cause.
