Army dating fans who have found a squeeze in the forces should now be looking ahead to Valentine’s Day, an expert has advised.
Lynda Smith, writing on her dating advice blog for Suite101.com, said that hot soldiers should spend time with their date rather than splash the cash.
The expert added that planning a day of events will leave more of a lasting memory than buying the usual chocolates and flowers, especially as the day falls on a Sunday this year.
Ms Smith added: "The best-intended Valentine is all too often convinced that in order to show the depth of his love and commitment he must spend considerable amounts of money on a gift."
Among her suggestions for hot soldiers are a home-cooked meal, a visit to a local vineyard or a walk in the park, all of which don’t cost much.
Guys wanting to buff up ahead of the big day should make sure that they work on their abs, as fitness professional Peta Bee told the Times that a six pack is a must at the moment.
