Single soldiers hoping to find love through online dating may want to take their time when choosing a suitable photograph for their profile.
This is because Lisa Kirchner, writing for Your Tango, noted some types of picture can be very off-putting for potential partners.
The expert advised guys to avoid appearing as too much of a "player" in his pose.
Fellas who post an image of themselves with another woman or drunk with friends at a bar are unlikely to receive much positive feedback, she explained.
Ms Kirchner also recommended blokes should avoid appearing too narcissistic with their profile shots, such as arty poses, as it can suggest a person is too concerned about their own appearance.
The writer added: "If your prospect can't be bothered to post a decent picture, you shouldn't count on that person to pay attention to you."
David Kamau from courting advice site e-DateCentral.com recently claimed one of the best things about flirting via the web is that it can be light-hearted and stress-free.
